Management board - a strong team
At Mack Automation, top quality, reliability and innovation go hand in hand to make your business or project a success. This has been company founder and owner Karl Mack’s objective since 1974. And because success at Mack Automation relies on combining excellent teamwork with reliable and competent individuals, we would like to introduce our board of managers in greater detail.
Wolfgang Keßler - Business Executive
After his vocational training as a mechanical engineer and subsequent extra-occupational distance learning with a focus on system and automation technology, which he successfully completed as a state-certified technician, Mr. Wolfgang Kessler started at a leading company in the special machinery construction industry, initially as a project manager and then took on more and more responsibility as head of overall assembly. In 2010, he joined the management team as deputy site manager. From 2015 to 2019, he served as managing director and technical director.
In 2019, Wolfgang Kessler moved to what was then Elektro-Mack as head of the newly integrated special machine construction division, which he played a key role in building up, a move that was to be reflected in the company's image in 2021 when the name was changed from Elektro Mack to Mack-Automation. Since 2020, he has been the managing director of Mack Automation.
Thomas Mack - Business Executive
After successfully completing his studies in business administration and prior training as an industrial mechanic, Mr. Thomas Mack joined MackSmaTec GmbH in 2000 as an assistant to the management. From January 2004 to the present, Mr. Thomas Mack has been managing director of the traditional family business.
His years as managing director have been marked by the further structuring and development of the “Mack Group.” This consists of three different companies: MackSmaTec GmbH, Mack Automation GmbH, and SMR Sondermaschinenbau GmbH. Under his leadership, MackSmaTec GmbH has grown into an international company.
Karl Mack - Founder
After successfully completing his master craftsman's examination in electrical engineering, Karl Mack founded Elektro Mack GmbH in Baindt, Baden-Württemberg, in 1974 as a master electrician. With great personal commitment, Karl Mack supported the establishment and growth of Elektro Mack GmbH in the following years. Following German reunification, he established the first branch office in Thuringia in 1990, before taking over MackSmaTec from the Treuhand privatization agency a year later.
In the years that followed, MackSmaTec GmbH (formerly ruhlamat) became Karl Mack's second passion, before the group of companies was expanded to include another member in 1998 with the purchase of SMR GmbH. Karl Mack retired from the management board at the end of 2024.
